  1. 1 cup Gobindobhog rice
  2. 1/4 cup Chana Dal
  3. 1/4 cup Roasted Moong Dal
  4. 1/4 cup Masoor Dal
  5. 750 gms Chicken on bones
  6. Whole garam masala - 1 bay leaf
  7. 2 whole red chillies
  8. 3-4 cloves
  9. 3-4 green cardamom
  10. 1 ” cinnamon stick
  11. 1 tsp cumin seeds
  12. 1 tsp broken coriander seeds
  13. Masala
  14. 1 tsp cumin powder
  15. 1 tsp coriander powder
  16. 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  17. 1.5 Tbsp Kashmiri Red chilli powder
  18. 2 large onions sliced
  19. 1/2 cup whisked yogurt
  20. 4-5 Slit green chillies
  21. 1 Tbsp ginger paste
  22. 1.5 Tbsp garlic paste
  23. Ghee
  24. Mustard oil
  25. Salt
  26. For Tadka
  27. 3 Tbsp ghee
  28. 1 tsp cumin seeds
  29. 1/2 tsp asafoetida
  30. 1 tsp minced garlic
  31. 1 tsp ginger julienned
  32. 1 Tbsp Kashmiri Red chilli powder

Instructions to make to make Chicken Masala Khichudi

  1. In a bowl take the Gobindobhog rice, all three Dals and wash 3-4 times, soak in water for 10 mins
  2. Wash the chicken
  3. In a wok heat 2 Tbsp mustard oil and 2 Tbsp ghee, add bay leaf, whole garam masala, whole red chillies, broken coriander seeds, cumin seeds, stir for 40 seconds and add sliced onions, stir on medium flame for 2-3 mins, add ginger garlic paste and cook for further 2-3 mins on low flame
  4. Add Chicken and on medium flame cook for 3-4 mins, add all spices under Masala. Add whisked yogurt and stir for further 3-4 mins when oil will surface
  5. Drain the water from soaked Rice & Dal and add to the Chicken. Mix well and cook for 3-4 mins on medium flame. Add 3.5 cups hot water and stir, add salt and cover to cook for 10 mins in between stirring
  6. Add split green chilies and stir. Add 1 tsp garam masala powder and mix, set aside
  7. For Tadka - in a wok heat 3 Tbsp ghee, add asafoetida, cumin seeds, minced garlic, ginger julienned and stir, set aside and add Kashmiri red chillies powder. Drizzle on the Khichudi
  8. Plate and enjoy 😊
